Animals & Baby Z

Mason's doctors appointment went great today. He is up to 7lbs 2oz which is 2 oz less than his birth weight :) He is doing great. He did pee while he was naked on the table in the exam room. This is the second time. I guess I will have to remember that next time we go and be prepared. I am working on the "bunny project" from "How to Rock Your Baby". It entails choosing a stuffed animal and taking a photo every month with the same animal. I am going to do the one week photo and then every month with it.
I cannot believe my little guy is a week old already! That is crazy to me. Stay tuned for more photos :) We had family photos done yesterday.

Now let's talk animals...

Tim and I knew that having a baby in the house would be a huge adjustment for the animals in our house. You know, Nutmeg and Scribbles..
Yea those two. The night Mason was born Tim came home and brought a hat that was put on him when he was first born. We told the nurse we wanted something to bring home to Nutmeg and she gave that to Tim after a few hours of it being on. Tim said he showed it to Nutmeg and she sniffed it and then could care less. She was just happy dad was home to feed her and she could sleep out of her crate for the night. I am sure she was even more excited when she realized she had my side of the bed to herself.

We brought Mason home on Sunday. We brought him into the nursery in his car seat and let Nutmeg come in and see him. This was after she went crazy when she saw me, I guess she missed me after not seeing me for three days. She was very careful and sniffed him. It was like she knew she had to be gentle with him.
I sat in the nursery with Nutmeg and Tim went to find Scribbles. She got spooked when Mason started to whimper and ran down the hall.
Scribbles went missing...
Has anyone seen this cat? Lazy tubby furball...
When Tim fed Nutmeg Monday morning Scribbles did not appear like she usually does for her morning treat. We started to get a little worried after we searched the house and could not find her. IN the late afternoon Tim decided to take a ride on the roads to see if she had been hit ( :( ). When he pulled back into the driveway he saw her. She was hiding under the shed in the front yard. She came out for him after a few minutes but would not come more than a few feet from the shed. I went out before the sun went down and she came right to me. I got her inside, to her food and water dish, and she stayed inside. She was a little skittish on Tuesday, but now she acts like nothing ever happened.
She even inspected our newest family member...
She has not tried to get in the swing or the cradle... she just likes to look from a distance for now. She seems to have accepted him.
Nutmeg has become my feeding companion. If I am in the nursery feeding she will sit in front of the chair or behind it. If I am sitting in the living room feeding she will lay on the couch next to me or on the floor at my feet.
Though she is not thrilled with the late night feedings. She likes her sleep and I always get some interesting looks when I turn the light on.
I would have to say that bringing Mason home has been pretty easy with the animals adjusting. They have been great and gentle with him.

Are there any bloggers out there that would like to do a guest post on here? Any other new moms? Healthy bloggers?
