Someone Loves Their New Sewing Machine...

Today I asked my mother in law to come over and watch Mason so I could mow the lawn. I have to say that I enjoyed myself. I enjoyed my hour by myself on the mower. She took him for his first walk and she used our stroller for the first time. He was really good on the walk.
I feel accomplished today, I got the lawn mowed, laundry down, and I changed the sheets on the bed. It is nice having someone else here with me to help with Mason.
It is now time to make dinner, but I want to share some great baby things I received that are homemade.

My brother-in-law bought his girlfriend, Michelle (one of my bridesmaids), a new sewing machine for her birthday. She is in love and I am enjoying the benefits :) A few months ago I was looking at nursing covers online and the prices were horrendous! I could not believe that they cost between $30 and $50, that is crazy for a piece of fabric. I emailed Michelle and asked if a nursing cover was something she thought she could make. For my shower she gave us these amazing diaper covers for Mason this summer when it is just too hot for clothes. She also made wash clothes.
We use the wash clothes all the time. I use them when I am breastfeeding. I may even ask her to make some more.
The diaper covers are great and looked really small before Mason was born, but now they are huge on him. We will have to wait a little longer for him to wear them. I cannot believe I thought there were small before he was born and now they are too big.

She said she would give the nursing covers a try. She found a tutorial online and got to work. I went with her to choose the fabric and we ended up finding a nice fabric on clearance. I was amazed when she gave them to me. I could not be more grateful! They are perfect.

When I showed my mom she had never seen a cover before. She thought it was a great idea and that they looked good. After buying fabric (with extra to spare for some other projects), boning, & D rings the two covers cost me roughly $20. That is a huge savings! I keep saying it, but I really need to learn how to sew!
Michelle also gave me this...
A Monkey costume! It is adorable :) The hat needs to be a little bigger for baby, but it is pretty good!
