Monday night at around 10:30 I saw the doctor after my blood work came back and I had been monitored for a while. We really liked her, she talked to Tim and I as one and explained a lot to us. She said she wanted to start the induction process. At midnight I was given the first pill of the drug they were using. It was put near my cervix, I did not feel anything happen for a few hours. When I got the second pill at 4 am I started feeling mild contractions. Well I knew they were contractions after the nurse told me I was having some contractions. I would not have known, they were really mild, just an annoyance. I did not get much sleep overnight because they were monitoring me and kept coming in to check the baby. I was given the opportunity to shower at 8am before my next dose of the medication. I am so glad I had my bathroom travel stuff with me and a fluffy towel. I read somewhere - maybe it was on The Bump forums - to bring your own bathroom towel. Do it! It felt great to use that instead of the tiny rough ones the hospital had.
I was given the last pill at 9am. At noon I was checked and there was no progress. That was a little frustrating. I was having mild contractions, but my body was not ready to go into "labor mode". A doctor came in to see me at one and gave me a few options. One of the options was going home and being on bed rest. I chose that option. I knew I would be more comfortable at home.
I am on Level 3 bed rest which means I do not get to do anything but lay here on my right side.
I can:
- Get up to go to the bathroom
- Take a shower
- Get up to get a drink
- Drive
- Go up and down stairs
- Work
