It is officially hunting season in Vermont. Why do I care? Well Tim will be out in the woods for the next three weekends. I am just finishing an overnight shift. I have not done one of these since June. It was not too bad. I was a little late though. You ever wake up and not really comprehend that you alarm is going off? I know I turned the alarm off and sat up, but I must have thought I would just rest my eyes for a couple more minutes... Well that turned into an hour and I woke up about 5 minutes before I was supposed to be at work. Good thing I only 10 minutes away.

I got a lot done on this shift. It was pretty busy work wise, but I did get a chance to go through my Granny's recipe book. I was at my aunt's for dinner the other night and she asked if I wanted to take it to get recipes out of it. All of the siblings and grandchildren will get a chance, but I was one of the first. I went through the book and was in awe of the organization and the way they were recorded. Most of the recipes are typed using a type writer.
I had started to go through the book Friday afternoon and I had some help from Scribbles. She has categories for every different type of food.
I was amazed at all the work that went into it. I am guessing she made this in the early 90's. There are a few articles from magazines that are from 1992.

I copied ten or so recipes and I scanned the Amish Friendship bread recipe. Have you guys ever heard of this? I have gotten one a few times. It is a recipe that makes extra so you can give to a friend to make. It can be a never ending cycle. The bread is delicious. I was thinking about making a batch and giving it away to friends. I like that it takes days to create. I will definitely post her recipe if I end up making it.
Reading the wording in the book was interesting too. There were a few sayings I will have to ask what they mean. Good thing I know what Oleo is already because it is in every recipe it seems.

Now I am off to sleep for a few hours and then make my way to my in-laws for lunch and to meet Tim. Mason is up there as well. Tim and him spent the night there so I could get some sleep before work last night and so Tim could already be there to hunt this morning.
