Ashley Sisk created a new "theme day" and I like it :) It is not like I need a reason to show you guys pictures of Mason, but this will get me to be more creative hopefully.
Mason is currently sleeping and I am getting things ready to go to the lake. It has been a good morning and I am actually showered before noon. (Wahoo!)

These pictures make me laugh every time I see them. I wanted to do the "bunny project" from the book How to Rock Your Baby - Giveaway coming soon! The basic idea is to take a picture of Mason with the same stuffed animal at a week, a month, two months, etc. I set him in the chair with the bear and he decided to be a wiggly baby. These are the one week photos. I cannot believe that this Friday I will have to do another set for the one month photos. (He is a month old at 4 weeks or on August 27? I am slightly confused by this)

HAHAHA - I cannot help but laughed at these. He cracks me up with the faces.

Scavenger Hunty Sunday 8-26-12

Sorry I have not posted in a few days, we were enjoying time at the lake last week and then we went to the fair yesterday. It has been a busy week. I got a chance this morning to work on Mason's baby book a little and do my scavenger hunt post.
Enjoy :)
Ramblings and Photos
School
I did not take this and it is obviously not recent, but I did not have anything for school. It is my school picture from early elementary school. Anyone else have those books in the background of their school pictures? They used to be really popular, I know my mom picked it a few years.
Rule of Thirds
I tried to take this photo using the rule of thirds and when I went to crop it I made sure it was following the rule. The mountains are in the middle section, the sky in the top and the water and Tim's mom in the bottom section.
Side Profile
Nutmeg loves to take boat rides. We walked down to the dock the other day and she went right for the boat.
Small
This is one of my favorite pictures of Mason. He is so small! :)
Motion
You cannot tell by the picture, but the swing is in motion. He slept great this morning in his swing. He seems to sleep with his mouth open a lot. I hope he is not catching any flies - lol.

Happy Sunday!

Happy Monday!
Mason is one month old today - I cannot believe it has been a whole month already.
He was much easy to get a photo from today than when he was a week old. He was great when this picture was taken too. Then he got fussy. He has been fussy at times the last few days. I wonder if he has a tummy ache or gas. Sometimes it is just another burp he needs to get out. Last night he was fussy for two hours and we were trying to get him to calm down before we gave him a bath. He would not calm so we just put him in the water and tada! The bath was the calmer. He was fine in the little tub and while we washed him then we put some night time lotion on him, fed him, and he was fast asleep. We will try to remember that little trick :)
I will do a little questionnaire on Mason after his doctors appointment in a couple weeks. I do not know his measurements.
I do enjoy that he is more awake during the day now and looking around more. I noticed the other day that he was watching his mobile. He was also looking in his mirror on the swing too. It is amazing how much he has developed in a month.

***********
Last week we spent a lot of time at the lake. Tim's aunt rented a camp for the week and it was very relaxing. Here are some photos from the week:

Nutmeg loved her swim & her boat ride

***********
I stepped on the scale today - 203.4 lbs. It is a Monday habit that I have gotten back into. I am still struggling with my eating. This past week should not count though. We were at the lake almost every night and we went to the county fair on Saturday. You cannot go to a fair and not eat some fair food :)
One positive is that I am walking more. I have a walk planned for tonight, hopefully the weather holds. I feel good and pretty much back to my old self before giving birth. The lack of sleep at night is starting to catch up with me. I am not getting up to feed Mason as quickly and easily as I was three weeks ago. Tim has been amazing and he started getting up for a feeding at night. This makes it easier on me and helps me get a little more sleep.

What a productive day it has been for Mason and I. we have been to the doctor, the house is clean, dinner is ready to go on the grill, and Mason is sound asleep.
We went to the doctors this morning to get him checked because I got a little worried the last few days. I noticed that he has a rash that was red and bumpy on his sides and shoulders. I had not noticed it before and was a little concerned. I got more concerned when he spit up more than usual yesterday. Add in the possible constipation that he has been showing signs of for the last few days and you get a phone call to the doctor's office. The pediatrician I chose has not seen Mason yet so she decided to have him come in to check him out.
He is fine. The rash is heat related because of the humidity. She also checked his mouth and she believes he is tongue tied. I asked what that meant - it is when the little section that attaches the tongue to the bottom of the mouth is too short. That might explain why breast feeding was not going so well. It prevents him from latching properly and later in life it may cause speech problems. An ear, nose, and throat doctor will be contacting us for an appointment to fix it.
I feel much better now that I have been told his is alright. He is much better today, yesterday must have been a fussy day. The doctor also said that his fussiness could be caused by something I ate. I will have to pay more attention to what I eat, I do not like when he is fussy.

Now for Wittle People Wednesday:
This is my favorite picture of Mason - He looks so peaceful and perfect.
This is Mason this morning in a cute outfit :) He was calm too which was a change from yesterday and I was grateful.

TGIF

Happy Friday! When I typed the title all I could think about was the TV line up on Fridays when I was a teenager. I miss those days sometimes... Boy Meets World, Step by Step, etc. Anyone else remember TGIF?
I cannot believe it is Friday already! We are going on a day trip tomorrow. Tim and I usually do a day trip to New Hampshire or Massachusetts in the fall. It is such a pretty ride and we get to go to places we have not been before. Our plan is to go to Lee, Massachusetts, but I think I might see if Tim wants to go to the Woodbury Commons Outlets near West Point, NY. I want to see the Catskills. I have never been south of Albany so I think it would be nice.
The last few days have been pretty busy. I did not think I would get a chance to post today, but from the photo above you can see that Mason is sleeping nicely today. I have already made some goodies today :) Pumpkin Donut Holes. They are yummy.
I cannot believe it is October 12th and this is the first time I have made something with pumpkin in it. Well I hope Tim likes pumpkin because I have the rest of that can to use and a few more cans in the pantry.

Mason has been great this week. I am so in love with that little guy and I am extremely grateful when he has a good day or week.
He looked cute on Tuesday :) We also tried something new that day. He has been doing great with tummy time.
I decided to try the bumbo seat. I know it is too early to put him in it all the time and he does not have full head control yet, but he seemed to like it for the minute he was in it.
He also had some bonding time with Nutmeg.
*************
I have been doing well this week sticking to the plan and my points. I wish I could fit in more walks, but I am trying my best. We went for a good walk yesterday with Tim's mom. It was a little chilly, but it felt good to walk outside and get some fresh air.
I am hoping for a great number on the scale on Monday.

Any fun plans this weekend?

We've Been Doing Stuff.

Hello neglected blog. I like blogging but as you can see, I haven't done it in awhile. We've been having fun doing family things and the thought of catching my blog up with our activities makes me tired. So, I think I'll just post a pic here and there and then try to resume my semi-regular posting activities.

We've been busy making weird faces...

Goose egg + vomit = Emergency Room

"You've been here before, right?" -Triage Nurse
"Mmm, hmmm..." -Charlie's mama

Happy birthday balloons are fun even if its not your birthday. Thanks dollar store!

Visits with Mimi and Poppy are one of the highlights to Charlie's week.
Terrorizing Buddy is a good time killer.

First annual trip for apple picking at Gizdich Ranch. We have not had too many of the apples we picked but we devoured the pumpkin pie and apple pies we bought.

Going to "sea" the Monterey Bay Aquarium and having lunch in Moss Landing is good for the soul.

Playdates with neighbor friends makes for a great start to the day. Have I mentioned what great neighbors I have?! It took us 3 years to meet but thats ok. We are making up for lost time, now.
A trip to the pumpkin patch during the week is highly recommended. And, free parking. Score.

Charlie, the artist.

I've also been busy with my little bus-nas. #6 out of 250 peeps in sales in September. Just sayin'.... :)

That's all for now.

Hi, Blog. It's me, Alyssa.

I'm just going to pretend that I haven't NOT blogged in 2 months. No great reason why I haven't been around but I am pregnant so I think I'll be blogging more often! And with that said, here is my first pregnancy quiz for "#2".

How far along? 12 weeks, 2 days

Total weight gain/loss: I've only had 1 appointment so I'm not sure yet. I do know I started this pregnancy off about 20 lbs higher than Charlie's pregnancy (sigh) so I hope to not gain as much this pregnancy.

Maternity clothes? Yes, I busted out the maternity clothes around week 7. I told you I'm big!

Stretch marks? No.

Sleep: I sleep fine other than getting up 2+ times a night to pee.

Best moment this week: Charlie and I went to Diddams earlier this week to shop for some stuff for his birthday party. We're having a farm theme but the only farm animal stuff they had was horses so I guess its now a horse theme! Its pretty cute though. I also had fun making the favors.

Movement: No.

Food cravings: Depends on the day. Most days I crave deli sandwiches. I just might buy stock in Subway.

Gender: I'm thinking girl, Rob thinks boy. What do you think?!

Labor Signs: Nope

Belly Button in or out? In.
What I miss: I'm not a big drinker but I went to PF Changs with some ex-coworkers a couple weeks ago and I really wanted their Key Lime Pie Martini (my favorite).

What I am looking forward to: Rob and my dinner/movie date on Friday plus we have 2 appointments next week (regular appointment and NT scan).

Other Updates: We had our first dr.'s appointment at 9 weeks on Dec 15 and saw our Charlie's sibling. It's heartbeat was a healthy 180.

I am going to have a planned c-section since I had a c-section last time and am not interested in a VBAC so we get to choose a birthdate within a week of the due date. I think we're going with Thursday July 12. I was thinking of doing it that Friday but it would have been Friday the 13th and Rob felt a little funny about that. Of course, I could also go into labor early but since I didn't go into labor early with Charlie, my dr. doesn't think I'll go into labor early with this one. I guess we'll find out!

This week, baby is the size of a lime!

Colorado 2012 & Charlie's First Plane Ride.

To contact us Click HERE
A couple weeks ago, we flew out to my parents lake house in Colorado with Charlie and his cousins. Even though it was a bit crazy at times having 3 little ones together, I think it made it a little easier. They were able to entertain themselves a bit by chasing eachother around. I think if it were just Charlie, it would have been a bit more challenging to keep him happy.

Overall, Charlie did better than we thought he would. There were times where we wanted to pull our hair out (especially around take off and landing where the attendants insisted on having him in a seatbelt even though we'd be taxing for awhile). Often times we would let him not be in the seatbelt and then when the attendant came by, we'd try to put it back on so we wouldn't get in trouble. After we landed in Colorado we rented a big car and the 7 of us drove 2 hours to the cabin. It was a looooong travel day. Did I mention we also had a 2 hr layover in LA?

We stayed in Colorado for 4 nights and did a lot of hanging out and playing in the snow. Getting Charlie to agree to wear snow clothes just didn't happen so we had to stuff him in the clothes. By the time we were done, Rob and I were sweating and swearing. It was awesome! ;) I think the highlight of our trip was sledding. My dad bought 3 sleds for the kids but the adults had fun with it, too. There is a little hill by their house that we walked to and played for awhile. Charlie didn't want to sit in the sled but I held him down and went - he looooved it.

I love this one. Rob accidentally went over a bump and they totally went airborn. Rob is trying to slow down with his hand, and Charlie has his hand over his forehead as if to say "geez dad, what are you doing?!" I think I might frame this. It makes me laugh whenever I see it.

The day we came home, we had to leave the house at 5:30 am. It was snowing and super windy so it took us 3 hours to get to the airport (almost 3.5 after getting gas). In the morning when we left, Rob checked the flight and it was on time. We pulled into the area to return our rental car around 9:00 am and Rob checked our flight status again and it said, wait for it...CANCELLED. WTF? Rob called the airline and they said they could get us on a 1:00 pm flight but we wouldn't land until 8:00 pm in San Jose. Rob told them that wouldn't work so they ended up getting all 7 of us on a non stop flight to San Jose and ended up landing hours before our original flight was to land (our original flight had a 3 hr layover at LAX). It caused some stress for a short time but in the end, the travel gods were working for us.

All in all it was a good trip but its always nice to come home and to come home to almost 80 degree weather was wonderful. There's no place like home!
